During floatation our body can be in a totally relaxed state but our mind can still be awake and busy. This is where visualisation techniques can take your float to a whole new level, bringing really vivid images into your mind. It can help us to mentally envision what we want to happen in our lives.
Visualisation is widely used by athletes preparing for a competition or to visualise winning the event. Physical training is just as important as mentally training the mind, which is what visualisation achieves.
Floatation helps unlock powerful visualisation techniques and connect deeply with levels of your being. It can also help you access your internal sources of creativity and insight. Other benefits include reducing anxiety, depression and insomnia. Decreasing stress and changing behaviour patterns.
Visualisation and meditation used together can be very powerful. And it’s not too much of a stretch to say they can help change your life.
It is helpful to become familiar with breathing exercises and breath awareness before practising visualisation techniques.
Inhale through the nose a deep breaths until your lungs are full. Hold your breath for a moment before slowly releasing it through your nose or mouth. Some people like to count as they do this. For example count to 4 as you breath in, hold for 4 counts then breath out for 4 counts. Try to get into a nice steady rhythm.
You can then add visualisation to your breathing. One example is to imagine the air you are breathing in is full of positivity, light and healing. All your hopes and dreams are filling your body.
And as you breath out you are releasing all your negativity, all your problems, stress and anxiety are leaving your mind and body as you exhale.
Think of what you want to achieve in your life, examples are:-
I want to get better at relationships
I want a better job suited to my talents
I want to beat my best time, heaviest weight lifted
etc..
Next create a mental image in your mind of this happening. Think of your wish happening, imagine you are there and can see it, experience it and smell it!
Now think the exact feelings you would be having if your visualisation had actually happened. The sounds and images you would see, how your life would change and how you would affect the lives of people around you.
Whatever your visualisation goals are. Try these techniques next time you come for a float at cloud 10, and change your life.
